9 Detailed Things About Renting Scooters In Las Vegas You Probably Didn’t Know

Category:

Renting scooters in Las Vegas can be a tricky experience. Not only are there a lot of options but also a lot of different types of scooters. Between the scams, hidden fees, and tricky contracts something as simple as renting a mobility scooter to a slingshot can quickly turn into a negative experience if you’re not careful. Below I’ve touched on nine popular topics I’ve come across as a scooter rental shop owner.

Got a question? Want to share your experience of renting a scooter in vegas? Feel free to leave a comment about renting a scooter in Las Vegas and I’ll add the answer to this list.

#9 Are there Bird scooters in Las Vegas?

Instead of birds, Las Vegas has Atomic Scooters Rentals & Tours, a local company that currently offers the same scooters as lime and bird for $10 an hour.

Standing scooters like these are only permitted Downtown; they are not available on The Las Vegas Strip because of the high foot traffic. But the Downtown Fremont Street area, also known as old Vegas, is an excellent place to explore and enjoy scooters.

#8 You CAN get a DUI on a Scooter

It’s a common misconception to assume you cannot get a DUI while renting scooters in Las Vegas, but you definitely can. No matter how lightweight your scooter is (meaning whether it’s a mobility scooter or a standing kick scooter), you can still get a DUI because it has a motor. Most people don’t know this, but you can get a DUI in Las Vegas by riding a bicycle under the influence.

#7 Scooters are more scarce in Downtown

If you’re visiting downtown Fremont Street in Las Vegas or staying at one of the many hotels, including Circa, The D, and even the Golden Nugget, getting a mobility scooter can be more challenging. It’s recommended that you book a mobility scooter in advance. Our recommendation for this is 702 scooters. They deliver and pick up and are rated number one in Las Vegas for mobility use.

#6 There are common scooter scams meant to rip you off

I’m sure you’re not shocked to discover that there are several scams designed to rip you off when renting scooters in Las Vegas. The majority of these scams involve the scooter’s theft, leaving you with a hefty bill owed back to the rental company.

In most cases, the way the scam works is:

  1. People have multiple types of keys that can be used on varieties of mobility scooters; when you go and park your E-scooter to go inside a restaurant or h take your chances at the tables.
  2.  A person will recognize the scooter’s branding and use a pre-cut key to turn it on and drive off with it.
  3. When you come back, and your scooter is gone, you have to call the company just to be informed that you will be billed up to $2,000 and losses if you did not buy rental insurance.

How to avoid this:

Easy.

Rent from Atomic scooters for your kick scooter needs

They offer you locks, and in the unlikely event that your scooter is stolen, you can call Atomic Scooters, which can easily track the scooter, disable it and recover it. Atomic Scooters do not use keys, so anyone who tampers with your rental will be fully prosecuted.

Go with reputable companies for mobility scooters.

When renting slingshots and novelty types of scooters

Read the fine print and make sure you fully understand what happens in the unlikely event that somebody attempts to steal the scooter; ask them if the scooter is tracked.

#5 E-scooter food tours exist!

Las Vegas scooter rentals come in many forms, including easy-to-enjoy Vegas Food Tours! If you want to check out some fabulous hidden gems, take a tour off the beaten path, you want to grab an Atomic Scooter foodie adventure.

You have several options when choosing your downtown Las Vegas food tour, including companies like:

And even the highly overpriced Lip-smacking food tours, but these are not scooter tours. Instead, you’ll find yourself walking the hot streets of Vegas, getting sweaty, tired, and underfed.

Atomic scooters is the only company offering unique food tours that allow you to go the distance on a scooter. You don’t go to what’s nearby; you ride to the actual local treasures and award-winning restaurants. #4 It’s called a “mobility” scooter or a “Kick” scooter – Know the correct terms.

Because mobility scooters are in high demand, it can be challenging to get one last minute. When calling to inquire about availability, you want to use the proper terminology because there are several scooters and multiple companies that offer all kinds throughout Vegas valley. It can be easy for people to make a reservation for a moped when they want a wheelchair simply by using the wrong words.

#3 Beware of the Tourist traps

The word tourist trap originated from Las Vegas because this is the mecca of entertainment tourism, so you need to be careful with the companies you choose to work with because these traps are a dime a dozen out here. The most important thing to know is location location location. If you’re coming to Las Vegas and need an e-scooter, you want to make sure that you’re not renting from a place miles away from where you’re going to be.

People often say that Vegas is very small. Still, in recent days, with all the constant construction and rapid growth, the city is starting to become expensive to get an Uber that will have you racking up delay charges sitting in traffic. Make sure you rent from a place with at least 50 reviews and a ranking of 4.5 or higher.

#2 There are only two kinds of E-scooters that are sidewalk legal

You can only ride Atomic kick scooters and mobility scooters on the sidewalks. If you rent an e-bike, moped, or gas-powered scooter, you will have to ride in the bike lane or streets.

#1 Yes, people will laugh and shame you for riding around on a mobility scooter because you are lazy

People misusing mobility scooters have become a significant problem in Las Vegas. We get it; it’s hard to enjoy Vegas walking around, it’s hot, and the Strip is very long but believe me, the solution isn’t to rent a mobility scooter. In the past few years, the Strip and Fremont street experience has become overrun with large groups of people renting scooters, putting yard drinks in the basket, and riding at a whopping eight mph on crowded streets. But these scooters are designed to assist people with issues walking.

Locals and tourists are getting annoyed with people thinking that this is okay. Those scooters go far too slow, take up too much space, and become harder to obtain scooters for those who genuinely need them. So yes, if this was something you planned to do, be ready for stares and a few strong words from people as you pass them.

Instead, it’s highly recommended that you rent a kick Scooter. First of all, they go more than 12 miles an hour and are sidewalk legal (Only when you rent from Atomic Scooters). They are not a disruption, and they are meant to get you from point a to B swiftly instead of a slow slug-like ride. I’ll take you five times as long when using a mobility scooter.
